The Hair Botox Treatment

If you’re following my Facebook Fan Page, you probably know by now that I’ve done a hair treatment due to the consistent reminder of the boyfriend. You see, I’m not the kind of girl who goes to a salon religiously to do something on my hair. It’s mainly because I couldn’t care less about it, I know it’s my “crowning glory” but last time I checked I’m not a princess nor a queen. I always have my hair tied up in a bun for work anyway so there’s really no need for me to prettify my hair. Besides, I’ve got far more interesting things to do other than spending it in a salon like, I don’t know, sleeping? BUT when the boyfriend offered to pay for a salon service (three times), I think I have to take the hint that I badly need one. Right? So I went to a salon, against my will.

I’ve got thick, frizzy, untamed, dry hair (yes, sounds like a character from a horror story) so the hair stylist recommended a hair botox treatment.

What is a hair botox treatment?

I also asked to have a hair color because I wanted to make the most out that salon trip. Well ok, to be honest, my hormones was acting up and I was having the urge to be all womanly at the time so I just pushed my luck further. I asked the hair stylist if it will have any damage on my already damaged hair if I get a hair color too, he said no but told me to go for low lights instead of a full hair color. I’ve no freaking idea what low lights was but it sounded good and he seems to know what he’s talking about so I said yes.

I was the only customer in the salon and it was really great for me, all of the staff were involved on my hair treatment. It was a nice feeling, I’ve never had that amount of people taking care of my hair. Then I realized that I probably needed that much of expertise since my hair is so badly damaged. Anyway, they started with the low lights. The hair stylist asked me what color do I want and I told him whatever he wants. I was just relying on his expertise really, good thing that he really do know what he’s doing and didn’t put any striking colors like orange or green on me.

Afterwards, my hair was washed with a shampoo specially for the botox treatment and then blow-dried. The hair stylist then put the botox treatment on my hair, which took quite some time as he had to do it in parts. The chemical used was quite strong and stung my eyes. I had my eyes closed half the time that he was putting it. Once done, they left it for about 5 to 10 minutes before they started blow drying it. I had to wear face mask as the chemical was really too strong for me.

Once all dried up, another hair stylist flat-ironed my hair so that the treatment will be fully sealed into the strands of my hair. Now this process was too much, my butt literally ached and I was fidgeting the whole time. I can tell from the look of the stylist’s face that his arms are getting tired and I had the urge to apologize for having such thick hair. I think it took him an hour to finish it all off.

From the above photo, you can see the low lights clearly. The color is still too striking at that time but I was assured that it’s not yet the finished coloring for my hair. After another 5 to 10 minutes of sitting still, my hair was washed again for another 10 minutes. When they lead me back to the chair, the stylist gave me a trim. Then a blow dry and voila! It’s all over, after 4 straight hours. It’s the same time a flight will take from Dubai to Colombo, yes – that was what was running through my mind the whole time.

I have to admit, I kinda like what happened there. My hair is now softer, smoother and manageable. I no longer look like I’ve been electrocuted or something. I’d probably have my hair down most of the time now and the best part of it all is, it doesn’t seem to be a problem if I tie it up in a bun unlike if you do a rebonding. Although the resemblance is uncanny with Simba of the Lion King, that’s actually myself in Kenya on the left photo. LOL. My hair looks like a tornado went through it after a tsunami, yes?. The photo on the right was after the botox treatment. So yeah, I think I need to do this “salon” thing more often.
