Where I Stayed in Corfu: Corfu Mare Boutique Hotel

After 4 hours of traveling from Lefkada (ferry ride and driving combined) we arrived at Corfu port without any knowledge where our hotel might be. The GPS cannot detect the hotel name and the hotel voucher that I was holding does not have a postal code in its address. The boyfriend called up the hotel to ask how to get there, well it turned out we were not very far from it.

Corfu Mare Boutique Hotel is about 500 meters from the port which is an added advantage for us as we were leaving early on our departure date to catch the ferry back to Igoumenitsa. It is also very close to the Old Town of Corfu. I’ve read in some of the reviews that it was about 30-min away from the Old Town by walking. By car, it only took us 5 minutes to get to the Old Town. The hotel has an ample parking space for free and we never had any problems with the parking even if the hotel was running quite full when we were there. If you are after location, location, location like us – you’ll love this property.

We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist as soon as we entered the hotel. I was surprised that they had a proper reception area, LOL. If you’re following the blog and have seen the other hotels that we’ve stayed in during this holiday, you’ll probably agree with me as well that this is the best hotel that we’ve ever stayed in so far. The exterior of the hotel looks very pleasant with a good landscaping, the interior has a modern design. They’ve got a collection of books at the lobby that you can borrow if you choose to lounge at the pool and you forgot to bring your own. The receptionist was speaking Greek to the boyfriend so since I cannot understand any of it, I made myself busy taking photos of the hotel. :)

The room is at the 1st floor with a view of the parking lot from the veranda. We don’t really mind the lack of view since the property isn’t a beachfront anyway. It’s clean and very cozy. The shower is of a modern design and quite hard to figure out how it works. Actually, when we were checking-in, another passenger went to the reception desk to ask how to operate the shower. I tried to remember what the receptionist told her but I still had a hard time figuring it out myself when I was going to use it. On the third day of our stay, the shower got clogged. It was never fixed but we can’t really blame them as we didn’t report it. We were going to check-out anyway the next day.

They’ve got a pool of decent size which we never got to use. We did spend some time at the bar though facing the pool whenever we have coffee in the mornings. The breakfast was fantastic! They’ve got a lot choices for hot food which I find very rare for Greek hotels. They do change the hot food spread everyday but of course will always cover the basics – eggs. :)

Wi-fi is available throughout the hotel but we can’t seem to access it from our room which we were told we can. We can only access it from the lobby, restaurant and pool bar. The best thing I like about this property is it is an adult-only hotel. No kids running around during breakfast, no kids screaming their heads off at the pool area – well basically, no kids. LOL.

I’d definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in Corfu.
